Written instructions
To crochet this dress we need two ripple patterns. First – simple, which consists of single crochet and double crochet. Second – more complicated, because when we crocheting we use hard stitches – back post single crochet.
The first pattern gives a smooth wavy canvas, the second pattern creates a relief wavy pattern. So that you can compare them, in this lesson we will analyze both patterns.
Before you start crocheting of this dress, you need to make a pattern (the scheme of the dress on the paper with dimensions). This is necessary in order to calculate all the parameters. In this video, you can see an example of a pattern.
The gauge is 1 rapport by 6 rows equals 5 by 5 cm or 2 by 2 inch.
This is a very important parameter that allows you to fully calculate how many rapport are needed for crocheting. If you use a thicker or thinner thread, I recommend that you knit one of two rapport and measure this with a ruler.
As you can see on the pattern, I took the approximate parameters of the dress. You enter your own:
– width 35 cm equals 7 reports (35/5 = 7)
– the height to the armhole 60 cm equals 72 rows (60 * 6/5 = 72)
– the height of the armhole – 20 cm is 21 rows (20 * 6/5 = 21)
– neckline – 20 by 2.5 cm, i.e. 4 rapports by 3 rows
– shoulders of 5 cm, i.e. 1 rapport on each side
– armhole width – 5 cm, i.e. 1 rapport
From this it is clear that we start crocheting our dress from the bottom, typing 225 ch – 14 rapports for this. And we crochet a pattern of 72 rows. Next, leave 1 rapport per armhole and crochet in front and back separately, 6 rapports. Having crocheted another 21 rows in the middle of the front and back, we leave 4 rapports for the neckline. We still have 1 rapport on the shoulders, which we crochet to the required length and finish crocheting.
It is important to remember that with circular crocheting, we all also need to rotate the crocheting so that the line of the beginning of the row does not move to the side.
